Vivo V29 Series Launching Soon: Camera, Design, Specs, Price Expectations

The Vivo V29 Series Is Coming: What To Expect

Vivo is gearing up to launch its latest V series phones, the Vivo V29 and Vivo V29 Pro. These devices will succeed the V27 series and bring upgrades in key areas like camera performance, display, and design.

According to reports, the Vivo V29 and V29 Pro will first launch in India by the end of September. The phones will also make their way to over 39 markets globally, including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Turkey, Mexico and Europe.

While official pricing and availability details are yet to be revealed, here's an early look at what the Vivo V29 series has in store based on teasers and launches in other regions.

Sophisticated Design

The Vivo V29 will flaunt a refined design language, coming in colorful gradient finishes. Some of the expected colors include Peak Blue, Starry Purple, Velvet Red and Noble Black.

Vivo says each color option uses special techniques to make the rear glass shine. For example, the Peak Blue finish utilizes 3D Magnetic Particles technology with 15 million micron-sized particles. This creates a distinctive mountain-like silhouette that shifts when viewing from different angles.

The phone is also quite slim at just 7.46mm thickness and weighs 186 grams. Making the V29 more durable is an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

Large Curved Display with High Refresh Rate

At the front, users can expect a large 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a curved edge design. Vivo is using a 1.5K resolution panel which sits between FHD+ and QHD+.

The display supports a fast 120Hz refresh rate for smoother animations and scrolling. It also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 wide color gamut for more vivid image reproduction.

Capable Mid-Range Processor with 5G

Powering the Vivo V29 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ 5G chipset. This upper mid-range processor delivers fast performance for daily use along with high efficiency. Gaming should also be smooth thanks to the Adreno 642L GPU.

The V29 will pack 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5 RAM options coupled with ample 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Also, storage can be expanded by a microSD card. 5G connectivity is also supported right out of the box for faster streaming and downloads.

Long Lasting Battery with Fast Charging

Keeping the lights on is a sizeable 4600mAh battery. Vivo's 80W FlashCharge technology allows the V29 to go from 0 to 50% charge in just 18 minutes. So even if you're running low, you can quickly top up during a break.

Vivo says the battery uses novel materials and smart charging algorithms to maintain peak performance for over twice as long as the industry standard. This translates to reliably long battery life after hundreds of charge cycles.

Potent Camera Hardware with Unique Lighting

Now let's talk about cameras, since imaging is a highlight of the V series. The Vivo V29 packs capable photography hardware along with some unique tricks up its sleeve.

The main rear camera uses a large 50MP sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an f/1.8 aperture lens. This allows for detailed images and good low-light capture. The sensor size is specified as 1/1.56" with 1.0μm pixels.

Accompanying this is an 8MP ultra-wide camera for framing larger groups and landscapes. There's also a 2MP mono lens.

But the real star of the show is Vivo's Aura Light. This is a 15.6mm LED ring light around the rear camera housing. With an area 9 times larger than a standard LED flash, the Aura Light delivers even and flattering lighting for portraits.

Vivo also says the 36% increased brightness versus the V27 allows for vivid clarity in photos. The light color temperature automatically adjusts based on the environment as well. So you can get great results whether you're in a dimly lit bar or under bright sunlight.

For selfies, the V29 sports a 50MP front camera with autofocus and a 22mm equivalent wide-angle lens. Dual front LED flashes are included too for well-lit self-portraits.

Latest Software Out of the Box

The Vivo V29 series ships with Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13 out of the box. This provides access to the latest Android features like improved privacy controls, notification permissions, and themed app icons. Vivo's customizations and value-added apps are on top.

Flagship-Grade Experience at Lower Price

With its beautiful design, vibrant OLED display, capable cameras, and modern features, the Vivo V29 seems primed to give you a flagship-level experience at a more affordable price point.

Considering the V27 launched at around Rs. 25,000 ($300) in India, we expect the V29 to cost between Rs. 28,000 to Rs. 32,000 ($340 to $390). The V29 Pro with slightly better specs could be priced closer to Rs. 35,000 ($430).

Of course, industry-wide price hikes and currency fluctuations might alter the actual MRP. But Vivo will aim to maintain an aggressive value proposition and undercut rivals.

For consumers seeking a well-rounded and contemporary mid-range smartphone, the Vivo V29 definitely warrants a look. We'll know full details at launch, so stay tuned for updates.
